“Ehon Land 2026” has started. Ehon Land is a Japanese picture book event that began as an in-person gathering with picture book authors, long before the pandemic. Since COVID, it has grown to include online readings by narrators as well — so today, you can enjoy Ehon Land both in person and through streaming.

For the first round, I had the honor of narrating Yuko Omori’s picture book “The World Is Full of Things I Love” (published by KADOKAWA). The reading is streaming until October 31, 2026.

What Is Ehon Land?

“Ehon” (絵本) is the Japanese word for picture book. Ehon Land is an ongoing event where picture book authors and narrators bring stories to children — and to anyone who still loves picture books, no matter their age.

About the Story: “The World Is Full of Things I Love”

The story follows a child who doesn’t want to go to school and feels like nothing is fun anymore. One day, the child starts seeing the world through a cat’s eyes — and slowly, things begin to look a little different.

A Note on Language

This reading is in Japanese only, with no subtitles or translation. I know that may be disappointing if you don’t speak Japanese — but I still hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy it. There’s something in the rhythm of a language, the tone of a voice, and the warmth of a story being read aloud that can be felt even without understanding every word. Japanese picture books have a gentle, quiet beauty of their own, and I’d love for that to reach you, even across the language gap.

Why Picture Books Matter — For Kids and Adults

A picture book doesn’t lecture. It simply speaks, quietly, straight to the heart. Even when children don’t always listen to their parents, they often let a story in without resistance. And as adults, we tend to stop reaching for picture books — but their simple words and images can still soften a tired or worried mind.

Enjoy It With Your Family

Whether or not you understand Japanese, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to experience “Ehon Land 2026.” Streaming is available until October 31, 2026.
